“60–90 TPH Mobile Drum Mix Plant & Bitumen Decanter Deployed in the DRC”

A road contractor in the Democratic Republic of Congo needed reliable asphalt production on a remote site — with a bitumen supply solution built in. Atlas Technologies supplied a 60–90 TPH mobile drum mix plant paired with a bitumen drum decanter, fully operational within 15–20 days of arrival.

The Challenge

The client needed an asphalt production setup for an active road construction project in the DRC — on a remote site where bulk bitumen supply infrastructure wasn't available and land layout had to be carefully managed for vehicle access and operational flow.

Remote Bitumen Supply

Bulk bitumen tanks require a reliable supply chain — not always available in remote DRC project sites. The client needed a bitumen sourcing solution that worked with standard 200 kg barrels, which are far easier to procure and transport in the region.

Site Layout & Vehicle Movement

The project site required careful planning around land utilisation — truck entry, exit, and movement around the plant had to flow without bottlenecks affecting production continuity.

Fast Commissioning Requirement

The project timeline demanded the plant be installed, calibrated, and running with minimal downtime — site delays were not an option once equipment arrived.

The Engineering Solution

Atlas Technologies supplied a mobile drum mix plant paired with a dedicated bitumen drum decanter — solving the remote bitumen supply problem at source, while the plant's mobile design kept site layout flexible and installation fast.

The Engineering Solution

Plant & Equipment Supplied

60–90 TPH mobile drum mix plant with insulated drying and mixing drum, wet dust collector, 30,000-litre fuel tank, 30,000-litre bitumen tank, and load-out conveyor for direct truck loading. Paired with a 2-row bitumen drum decanter accepting standard 200 kg barrels — shipped in a single 40 HC container. Bitumen tank positioned for direct, efficient loading from the decanter, optimising site flow and eliminating manual handling delays.

Export-Optimised Container Shipping

The entire plant was configured for container-compatible transport to the DRC — modular components designed for straightforward shipping, customs clearance, and on-site assembly without specialist equipment.

Installation & Commissioning

Atlas technical support was deployed on site for installation, mechanical setup, and commissioning. Full installation including trial run completed within 15–20 days of site arrival — plant operational and producing on schedule.
